Programme thematic areas
Our interventions are grouped in five important strands that highlight the diverse areas of focus we believe are crucial for the development and well-being of individuals and communities.
Right to be safe and Healthy; this ensures that everyone has access to a safe environment, free from harm, and the necessary resources to maintain their health.
Right to sustainable livelihood: which emphasizes the importance of providing individuals with the means to earn a living, ensuring economic stability, and fostering a sense of purpose through meaningful work.
Right to essential services: recognizing that access to basic services such as education, healthcare, and sanitation is fundamental for a dignified life.
Right to be heard: WSF acknowledges the importance of every individual having a voice in their community and the right to express their opinions and concerns. Additionally, the
Right to an identity, which is vital for personal and cultural recognition in a diverse society.
WSF intended results will be achieved through main programme areas that are strategically designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and empowerment within communities, ensuring that these values translate into real-world impact and positive change for all involved.
We believe that with five interrelated strategic propositions for change, including reducing rural poverty, increasing resilience to disasters, building accountability, and promoting the rights of marginalized groups (mainly pastoralists and agro-pastoralists)
Our work is guided by Strategic plan (2025-2035), organised around five themes: Governance, peace and security; Food security & Livelihoods; Natural Resource- Environment and climate change; Health, and Education. All the themes work towards influencing policy and practice, youth and women empowerment, inclusive participation in decision-making at various levels, and capacity strengthening of national and local actors.
