Mercy's Journey from Celebration to Advocacy
Warrior Squad Foundation

Mercy Brenda, a young mother from Kareu Village in Kotido, was selected to participate in the 9th Karamoja Cultural Event under Warrior Squad Foundation’s Ugandans for Peace Activity, funded by USAID. Initially expecting a festival, Mercy found herself deeply engaged in dialogues addressing community issues and proposing solutions, such as business support for women and universal education in Karamoja.
Inspired by meeting leaders and women from diverse Ateker communities, Mercy's passion for advocacy was sparked. The event’s cross-cultural exchanges and peaceful resolutions of past conflicts gave her hope for unity and progress. Key moments, like the President’s call for commercial agriculture to reduce food insecurity, resonated deeply, reinforcing her commitment to positive change.
Mercy left the event empowered and determined to advocate for her community, proving that cultural events can foster dialogue, resolve conflicts, and build resilient communities.
